ProEnergy Turbine Services Repairs V94.2 Blades in Record Time
ProEnergy Turbine Services recently completed the repair of three sets of V94.2 blades
with full stripping and coating in only six weeks. Applying Turbine Services’ rigorous
inspection process it was discovered that the blades would require major repairs.
Through the chemical stripping process, extra care was taken to prevent damaging the
platinum pins located in the airfoil. The parts were then evaluated by the Turbine
Services’ engineering team to design the repair scheme. This fast track project included
weld repairs of foreign object damages as well as a tip build up using a specialized
proprietary welding procedure designed by ProEnergy’s Turbine Services engineering
team. The application of HVOF coatings using multicoat equipment allowed for higher
yields and performance comparable to new blades.
“We pride ourselves on our ability to use state-of-the-art technology processes to
complete projects in much shorter lead times,” said Marcial Trujillo, ProEnergy’s Vice
President of Heavy Industrial Turbine Products. “We work very closely with our
customers, and have found that those relationships also contribute to the quick
turnaround times we are able to provide.”
